It's 9 am on Wednesday and that means class registration for Crop 4 Kids is open to the PUBLIC for the 1st time.

Please join us at our amazing event for the Alberta's Children's Hospital, all proceeds from classes benefit the hospital as our instructors have generously donated their time and supplies!

There will be a class registration fee for anyone registering to take classes that is not part of the all day crop. This $20 fee will include a mini goodie bag as well as one meal at the event (lunch or dinner, dependent on the time of the classes you are attending). All proceeds from the class registration fees will go to the Children's Hospital as well!

Anyone that was here at 9 am and couldn't find the link, I am sorry that you had to wait.

I set the blog to put the link live at 8:55 am as I had a meeting at my real job that was dropped on me at 8:30 am. I didn't realize that we were set on PST!

Crop 4 Kids' talented instructors are bringing you SIX classes to the event on March 19th!

For the first time, these classes are not just for the croppers. We are going to open up spots in our classes at our sold out crop to the PUBLIC! So, that means if you weren't able to secure a seat to crop you can still attend the event to take a class and shop.

Our instructors and sponsors have made it possible that 100% of the class fees will go to Children's Hospital! Thanks so much to Leica, Sonja, Christy, Kimberly and Virginia for donating your time and expertise to us.

Now on to the line up of classes. We will be running 2 classes rooms and in order to get all the fun things we have planned at Crop 4 Kids this year, we will have to run 2 classes in each time slot.

Leica Forrest - 11 am - 1 pm (2 hrs)

Layers, layers and more layers

Have you ever wondered how to try some of those fun paper layering techniques out there? I love mixing and matching patterned papers, ripping and tearing, creating layers. Come join me and we'll break out of our comfort zones. You will create 2 layouts.

Cost - $35

Virginia Wong - 11 am - 1 pm (2 hrs)

Introduction to Copic Markers - presented by Scrap Shotz

Join Virginia Wong, Certified Copic Instructor, and Scrap Shotz, as we explore the world of Copic Markers! We'll spend more than half the class on where to start, coloring techniques, blending, color selection and back it up with lots of practice. Then we'll use our images to complete 6 cards, with brand new CHA lines! As a registered class participant, you'll receive 10% off all copic products purchased from Scrap Shotz during the crop, as well as a chance to buy the class markers at a very low price! Stay tuned for further information and photos - hope to see you in our class!

Christy Riopel - 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm (2 hrs)

Mixed Media Canvas

If you like getting messy and playing with paint, ink and stamps then this is the class for you. Let Christy teach you how in to incorporate the elements of mixed media into your paper crafting repertoire. Make a fun and funky 11 x 16 canvas frame that lets you display your favorite photos as a work of art.

Cost - $40

Please Bring: Scissors, Mat Mode Podge or similar, Zip Dry or Similar wet adhesive, Walnut Stain Distress Ink Pad (well inked), 1 inch foam brush, 1-1 ½ inch paint brush, Wet Wipes, Reminisce Black Pen or similar, Paper Piercer

Kimberly Collis - 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm (2 hrs)

Spring Mini Album

Spring is in the air, and what better way to count down the days than with a spring inspired mini album! Lots of pastel colors, pockets to store momentos, and fun galore!

Cost - $30

Leica Forrest - 4 pm - 6 pm (2 hrs)

Creating {Art} while playing with lot's of Techniques
In this class we will play with a lot of different techniques to create a layout. We are going to stamp, emboss, glitter & glimmer mist and have fun creating unique embellishments. Definitely a class that could get your hands dirty so please bring baby wipes and wear suitable clothing.

Cost - $30

Please bring: scissors, paper trimmer, adhesive, black marker optional items different sizes of circle punches, border punches and a wet adhesive like Fabritak

Sonja McLean - 4 pm - 6 pm (2 hrs)

Product Playground

Join Sonja in a product playground, exploring the best in today's scrapbook embellishments. We'll play with lace cardstock, transparencies, rub-ons, stickers, flowers, buttons, die-cuts and much more! Achieve fun, eclectic style in no time with this single 12x12 layout using 4x4 photo sleeves.

Cost - $25

Please bring: 2 - 3 photos, paper piercer, adhesives, trimmer, corner rounder, sanding block or emery board and scissors.

Registration will open for croppers on Wednesday, February 16th at 9 am MST.

Hello! My name is Virginia Wong and I am thrilled to be a returning instructor for Crop4Kids. I am a full-time Mom and a part-time Information Technology consultant. Scrapbooking is my relaxation and passion - I need to scrapbook every day, be it reading a scrapbook magazine or creating a layout. Scrapbooking has allowed me to record the mundane day to day goings on that often gets forgotten as well as the spectacular moments of my family`s lives - that makes me happy!

I love mixing vibrant, bold colours and patterns along with all those irresistible embellishments. That combined with typography and photography makes me a hopeless addict! The escapades of my two energetic and happy-go-lucky girls, Madison and Danielle are often captured on my layouts. Photography is another of my passions and competes with my scrapbooking time (!); participating in Project 365 has given me ample scrapping opportunities.

Teaching classes is one of my favorite ways to meet others who share this fantastic hobby! I look forward to meeting you in my class! Thanks for having me back!

I still can not believe how fast it's gone! It seems like just yesterday when I gave the cheque to the Hospital for the first Crop 4 Kids.

This year is going to be fun!!! We have a few tricks up our sleeves for Christy( of Monday Night class) and Leica. I can't say anything but it's going to be fun!!!
My basement is filling with all the great goodies for the Crop. My husband can't wait till next weekend, so he can once again see the TV in the basement without a box being in the way!

Presentation of the Cheque!

I was so thrilled to go to the hospital for a reason other then to go for an appointment.

Kaitlin, Ben and I made a special trip up there to present the cheque for $4580.00 to the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation.

We also stopped by to see Lois the Hospital administrator to let her know the good news! She was thrilled and VERY Thankful for the donation.

Mary and I are thrilled to say that we are almost sold out!!!! I am so grateful for all the support we have received for Crop 4 Kids!!!
I can not stress enough how important the Alberta Children's Hospital is to so many families including mine. It puts a smile on my face every time I'm up at the hospital, to think we are going to help make the day of some of these families. My Son Ben & I will be having a "sleepover" at the hospital this Wednesday night. He has to have a PICC line put in so he can have at home I.V. Antibiotics, to hopefully stop his infections. It makes me even more grateful to be doing this crop for the Hospital.

So help us meet our fundraising goal and fill those last 10 seats!!!

Oh yah did we mention... everyone will be getting a 6FT table all to them selves.........

The Alberta Children's Hospital foundation helps support excellence in family centered child health programs. One of the programs is hosting Storybook Theater performances at the hospital for the kids to enjoy.

Crop 4 kids is thrilled to support this program. All the funds raised at the March 28th event will go towards the performances at the Hospital.

Our fundraising goal is to Raise $4,000.00 to support this program.

We are more then halfway there and registration closes on Monday March23rd!! If I didn't need another reason

I was at the Alberta Children's Hospital last Tuesday with Ben. His ear is still draining with an infection and they are concerned that the infection could go to his brain, not great news to get.

While we were at the hospital pharmacy picking up his antibiotics, a little girl was wheeled in by her mother. She had just finished a chemo treatment and was picking up her anti nausea medication. My life came into perspective. While Ben is sick and is fighting a major infection, he is not fighting for his life like this little girl. It breaks my heart to think that small children have to deal and fight such adult-sized battles.

If I needed another reason to do this crop it was right there, helping this little girl and many other children who depend on the Children's hospital every day.

What is your cancellation policy?

No cancellations will be accepted, but registration can be transferred if you are unable to attend. Please contact us at scrap4it@gmail.com regarding transfers of registration so that name changes can be done for administrative purposes, class lists and admittance to event. If you are unable to find someone to transfer your seat to we may have people on a wait list. Contact us to enquire.

Can I sit with my friends ?

The crop room will have assigned seating. We will do our very best to seat groups together and in order to do so we will need to know the names of the people you would like to be seated with. Please ensure when you register for your crop seat that you indicate who you would like to sit with in the indicated field on the registration form.

Will there be a scrapbook store selling products on site?

The Scrapbook Pantry will have a store at the event as well as Monday night class will be selling their kits at the event.

It has been a Goal of mine to host a Crop4Kids to benefit the Alberta Children's hospital foundation for years.
As some of you know I have three kids Megan (8) Kaitlin(4) and Ben (3). I'm sure with three kids we would have eventually visited the hospital at some time but.... Someone had other plans for me & my husband. We visit the hospital at least twice a month with one of the kids. Megan & Kailtin have a rare genetic condition called Primary Cilia Dyskinosia. PCD is a progressive disorder affecting organ systems that rely on ciliary activity for proper function. These organ systems include the upper and lower respiratory tract, and the middle ear. Ben is too young to be diagnosed, but is showing the same signs as the girls were at their age.

My good friend Mary is joing me in planning this event.When her oldest son, Liam was 18 months old he was diagnosed with Osteomyelitis. This is an infection of the bone or bone marrow, caused by bacteria (Strep and Staph). Osteomyelitis often requires the surgical placement of an IV line to the heart, and a course of antibiotics for weeks or months. They were in the hospital for about a month and are very grateful to the staff, that the infection was caught in time. Liam is now a healthy 4 years old.

The Alberta Children's Hospital has given so much to our families and thousands of other families it's time to give back to them. Incredible community support has enabled them to open the most state-of-the-art children’s hospital in Canada.

So please join us March 28, 2009 for the Crop4kids Scrapbooking Crop, to help them continue to provide the best care possible.

This is a non-profit event and all the proceeds from this event will go to the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation.
